Kate Lasky and Tomasz Skowronski are co-chefs and co-owners of APTEKA, a Central + Eastern European restaurant that the couple opened in 2016. The restaurant draws on Skowronski’s first generation Polish heritage, Lasky’s multi-generation Pittsburgh roots, and their extensive travel through the former Eastern Bloc.
Apteka is a hyper-DIY, scratchmade, and entirely vegan project. Most recently, the restaurant was highlighted by the New York Times in “The Restaurant List” and “Best Restaurant Dishes” in 2022, and the couple were semi-finalists in 2022 and finalists in 2023 for James Beard Best Chef Mid-Atlantic.
