Kristy Del Coro

Kristy Del Coro is a licensed dietitian nutritionist and trained culinary professional based in Southern Maine with over 15 years of experience in culinary nutrition and unique career experience that sets her apart in her industry. Kristy currently divides her time between her work as co-founder of the Culinary Nutrition Collaborativea continuing education and consulting platform that reaches thousands of health professionals nationwide and her work as a freelance food and health writer for leading digital media platforms.  [She is also strongly connected to her local community in Maine and is working as a consultant for a USDA grant project with Downeast Dayboat to start a community-supported fishery style service to provide convenient access to high quality Maine seafood.

Kristy’s time at Rouge Tomate transitioned into an opportunity to work for the restaurant groups sister company, SPE Certified, a nutrition and sustainability consultancy. It was here that she led various recipe development projects and was instrumental in the development of a nutrition and sustainability certification program for food service operations. During her time in New York City, Kristy also served as an adjunct faculty member at her alma mater, New York University for several years where she developed and taught a culinary course for graduate students in the Department of Nutrition and Food Studies. 

Kristy has been working as a freelancer since 2016, taking on consulting opportunities, brand partnerships, and food writing opportunities, while simultaneously starting a new business with another NYC-based culinary RD. Kristy has also co-founded the Culinary Nutrition Collaborative, a leading organization that provides unique culinary focused food and nutrition education to thousands of health professionals nationwide through two recurring annual conferences, webinars, and events throughout the year often in partnership with other mission-driven brands and organizations in the food industry.  In addition to her work with the Culinary Nutrition Collaborative, Kristy is on the Medical Review Board for Very Well Fit and Real Simple, regularly pitches and writes for leading media outlets, and is a sought after culinary nutrition expert for quotes and contributions.

As a writer, Kristy frequently highlights topics that combine her values of supporting a sustainable food system and personal health while also prioritizing practical and flavorful application in the kitchen. Kristys articles have been published on RealSimple.com, Well+Good, Spruce Eats, Eating Well, and U.S. News World & Report among others.  Kristy has been quoted as a culinary nutrition expert in the Wall Street Journal, Livestrong.com, Bloomberg, CNN Health, Clean Plates, Eating Well, SELF, and more. 

Education:

Kristy has a bachelors degree in history from Boston College, a masters in clinical nutrition from New York University, completed her dietetic internship training at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and has a culinary arts diploma from the Institute of Culinary Education in New York City.
