April 30, 2019 (Hatfield, MA) – The Lisa Ekus Group is proud to announce that Partner and Culinary Literary Agent Sally Ekus has been named one of Business West’s 40 Under Forty for the 2019 Class.

Business West’s Annual 40 Under Forty is a celebration of young business and civic leaders in the Western Massachusetts area. Candidates are individuals who have achieved professional success and actively volunteer for civic and/or non-profit organizations.  The process is a nomination driven one.

“As I got to know Sally, I learned of the incredible breadth of her work, her tremendous focus on service to clients, colleagues and the community, and her unusual capacity for personal and professional growth,” said Dr. Michael Klein, a Northampton-based organizational psychologist who nominated Sally for the prestigious honor. “Sally keeps me excited about Valley businesses that have a global reach, and I was frankly stunned that she had not already been recognized as a 40 under Forty. If the future of Western Mass is in the hands of people like Sally Ekus, we should all be very excited about living and working here.”

Sally joined The Lisa Ekus Group, a boutique culinary agency in Hatfield, MA, in 2009. She is both a literary agent and partner in the business alongside her mother Lisa, who founded the company 37 years ago. Lisa, known as Moss—mom/boss to Sally—said, “Having Sally as the future and ongoing legacy of our company is an amazing gift. She brings huge energy, Wild West ideas, creativity and passion to everything she does. She is a natural business manager and true advocate for all her clients. Her reach and impact in our local community is tremendous. She truly walks the walk of making a difference in all that she undertakes.”

Sally was named a 2016 Publishers Weekly Rising Star Watch Honoree; accepted into the 2016 Yale Publishing class; and appointed as a member of The Julia Child Foundation Advisory Council in 2018. In addition to being a trustee at The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Massachusetts Chapter, in 2017 after ten weeks and setting a new fundraising record, Sally was named Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Massachusetts Chapter Woman of the Year. She is also a board member and performer at Happier Valley Comedy as well as a producer and performer at the Happier FAMILY Comedy Show. Sally also supports the community efforts of Cancer Connection, The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts, Treehouse, and Lighthouse.

“Being a highly participatory member of my community, both in the physical sense as well as through intangible advocacy, is of the utmost importance to me,” Sally said. “This recognition for dedication in my personal and professional circles by Business West is a tremendous honor. I look forward to celebrating alongside the other incredible members of the Pioneer Valley being recognized.”

A formal gala to celebrate nominees will be held June 20, 2019 at The Log Cabin in Holyoke.
