Shelley Rahim, Ayurvedic Postpartum Chef and Caregiver, has been cooking “Ayurvedic” style cuisine for over 30 years. Shelley spent her entire adult life learning how to cook Southeast Asian food from her Pakistani mother-in-law. Shelley’s advanced training with Sacred Window Studies as an Ayurvedic Postpartum Caregiver was the perfect complement to the cooking skills that were passed on to her by her beloved Pakistani mother-in-law.
Shelley has over a decade of experience feeding mothers during the labor, birth, and postpartum time. This has given Shelley the knowledge and experience needed to develop recipes as well as a methodology for nourishing mothers through this important transition. Shelley’s upcoming book, The Forty-Day Mother Nurture Plan, is a compilation of this knowledge and is sure to help many families nourish the postpartum mother in their lives.
Shelley is also passionate about supporting mothers through the emotional integration of their birth stories. With advanced level training in Birth Story Medicine (TM) with Pam England, Shelley has been able to help hundreds of mothers heal their birth trauma. Through Birth Story Listening and other modalities, Shelley empowers mothers to reclaim lost or broken parts of themselves and to own their birth stories with pride, regardless of the birth outcome.
Shelley has attended over 150 births as a birth doula, and has spent thousands of hours cooking for and massaging postpartum mothers. She loves nothing more than serving mothers as their caregiver during the Forty-Day Sacred Window. Shelley feels deep gratitude to her ancestors, teachers, clients, and students for guiding her on this path of supporting mothers during the perinatal year, and in doing so, creating more love and wholeness in the world.
