Catherine (Kitty) Broihier
Kitty is a food and nutrition communications professional whose 25 years of experience is strongly focused on written communications, both from a food-centric perspective as well as a scientific one.
She works with food companies, public relations firms and trade associations in a variety of capacities, including writing all manner of materials for food products, issues management and food technology issues.
In addition to writing and consulting, Kitty’s scope of work includes recipe development and menu consultation, web content development, product development consultation and serving as a member of scientific advisory groups. She has authored several cookbooks, contributes to several blogs, and is the author of many freelance magazine articles for national and regional publications.
Ms. Broihier completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics at Michigan State University, and received a Master of Science degree in Nutrition Communications from Boston University. Immediately after her schooling, Kitty entered the world of publishing as a member of the editorial staff at Good Housekeeping magazine, and then moved into the public relations arena, working for an international food company for several years prior to launching her own consulting business.
Kitty has recently discovered the unique joy and challenges of teaching, and serves as an adjunct instructor in the Dietetic Technology Department at Southern Maine Community College. She also is very active with Maine’s groups of nutrition professionals, having recently completed her second term as president of the Maine Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and is now serving as the group’s Delegate to the national association.
